In honor of its Founding Director, Avrion Mitchison, the Deutsches Rheuma-Forschungszentrum Berlin (DRFZ), a Leibniz Institute, annually awards the Avrion Mitchison Prize.

The award is given to young scientists with research work that makes a significant contribution to the understanding and treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases, especially rheumatic diseases.
